Massachusetts resident Bill Russell recently took delivery of his new "turn-key" Top Dragster final assembled at the KillerRONS.COM shop. The chassis is a 272" Spitzer Race Cars double-slip design with no powder coat to keep the weight to a minimum. Carbon fiber is almost exclusive on this car including, but not limited to, the one piece body, interior, steering wheel, mono-strut rear wing, front canard wings and air scoop.
The powerplant features an all-aluminum Steve Schmidt Competition Engines 4.600" bore 665" topped with an HRE billet runner sheet metal manifold and dual gasoline carbs. Oiling is handled by a 5-stage custom dry-sump system and a Star Machine vacuum system. The engine made just over 1400 horsepower that will be delivered through a Transmission Specialties Proline 5000 glide and 9" spragless converter.
The Fab Shop triple-step polished stainless steel headers handle the exhaust duties out of the Pro-Filer Performance 12* cylinder heads. Mickey Thompson tires are on all four corners wrapped around M/T Pro-5 Drag 16" x 16" double bead lock rear wheels and matching fronts. K&R Performance carbon fiber electronics are featured in the cockpit area along with Auto-Meter carbon fiber guages and a B&M Pro-Bandit stealth black shifter.
An MSD Digital 7 ignition box, HVC-II coil, crank trigger and wires handle the spark deliver the spark. Driver safety is handled by Simpson belts and ISP padding in the cockpit and dual chutes and dual rear brakes stop the car. Russell will make his initial passes in the car in the early Spring 2010 and we look for great results from this combination after a little testing.
